Canadian Tax Deadline Calendar

For most individuals, April 30th is the deadline to have your income tax return to the CRA. If you owe the CRA money, your payment must also be received by the CRA on April 30th (even if you are self-employed and you file in June!).

Here the income tax filing deadlines for the upcoming months:

December 31, 2010

RRSP Deadline Age 71: If you turned age 71 in 2010, December 31st is the last day you contribute to an RRSP.

January 30, 2011

Income Splitting Loans – If you have an income splitting loan to your spouse or a minor child, January 30th is the last day the interest must be paid on the loan to avoid attribution.

January 31, 2011

GST/HST Remittances – If you have a business, the due date for filing and remitting Goods and Service Tax/Harmonized Services Tax (GST/HST) for the prior quarterly reporting period.

March 1st, 2011

RRSP Deadline – Last day to contribute to an RRSP and be able to deduct the contribution on your 2010 income tax return. If you miss the deadline, you’ll have to claim the deduction on your 2011 tax return.

March 15, 2011

Quarterly Instalments – If you pay your personal income tax in instalments, this is the quarterly instalment payment deadline.

April 30, 2011

Individual Filing Deadline – For individual filers (who are not self-employed) this is the deadline to file your income tax return for the 2010 tax year. Since April 30th is a Saturday, the CRA will tax accept returns up until Monday May 2nd, 2011 without penalty.

2010 Tax Payments Due In Full – If you have a tax balance and owe money to the CRA from your tax return, the balance is due and payable at the same time, even if you are self-employed.

GST/HST Remittances – If you have a business, the due date for filing and remitting Goods and Service Tax/Harmonized Services Tax (GST/HST) for the prior quarterly reporting period.

June 15, 2011

Self-Employed Returns Due – If you were self-employed in 2010, your income tax return is due by June 15th. However, if you owe taxes, these were due on April 30th.

Quarterly Instalments – If you pay your personal income tax in instalments, this is the quarterly instalment payment deadline.

July 31, 2011

GST/HST Remittances – If you have a business, the due date for filing and remitting Goods and Service Tax/Harmonized Services Tax (GST/HST) for the prior quarterly reporting period.

September 15, 2011

Quarterly Instalments – If you pay your personal income tax in instalments, this is the quarterly instalment payment deadline.

November 30, 2011

GST/HST Remittances – If you have a business, the due date for filing and remitting Goods and Service Tax/Harmonized Services Tax (GST/HST) for the prior quarterly reporting period.

December 15, 2011

Quarterly Instalments – If you pay your personal income tax in instalments, this is the quarterly instalment payment deadline.

December 31, 2011

RRSP Deadline Age 71- If you turned age 71 in 2010, December 31st is the last day you contribute to an RRSP.
