Tax Planning For You and Your Family is an up to date annual publication from the financial planning team at KPMG.  The book is a must have for those interested in pursuing the CFP designation but has insight and helpful information for any reader.

The contents are laid out by topic and include subjects such as:

  • Establishing a financial plan
  • RRSPs, RRIFs, and RESPs
  • Income Splitting
  • Taxation of investments
  • Moving
  • Automobile expenses
  • Employment and commission salesperson expenses
  • Appealing your taxes
  • Tax and tax strategies for the self-employed and small business owner
  • Taxation and Farming
  • Cross boarder tax issues for Canadians owing U.S. property and U.S. citizens working in Canada
  • Retirement planning
  • Estate planning
  • Tips for executors

The book supplies an abundance of tax tips and strategies that can be used by anyone.

I have been using this book since the late 1990′s as an easy-to-understand reference to help translate sometimes complex topics into terms that anyone can understand.
